Your First Visit
New patients often remark how welcoming our office is. That痴 good, because our goal is to offer state-of-the-art chiropractic care in a comfortable surrounding. We work very hard to create a relaxed, caring environment for our patients. So, make yourself at home!
Paperwork
You値l find easy access to our office in your vehicle or the C-Train, with plenty of convenient parking. Upon arrival at Dalhousie Station Chiropractic in NW Calgary you will be greeted with a smile and the front desk assistant will introduce herself and give you any needed paperwork. While completing your paperwork, please help yourself to a cup of tea. Once your paperwork is complete you will be shown a short video before your consultation with Dr. Kricken.
Consultation & Exam
NW Calgary Chiropractor, Dr. Michael Kricken will spend time with you to learn about the reason for your visit and your health history. Following the consultation, he will perform a thorough exam to find out where your problem is originating from.
Once the exam is concluded, he may recommend in-office, non-invasive paraspinal surface emg and thermal testing. A sophisticated software program analyzes the results of these tests compared with standard normal control subjects. These tests are typically an important aspect of your first visit and are part of the technology we use to measure the condition and balance of your spine and nervous system.
Stethoscope for the Spine
The same part of your nervous system that controls your internal organs regulates the temperature of your skin. Our instrument measures differences as small as a tenth of a degree! Nervous system compromise causes muscles along the spine to exhibit unusual electrical activity. Our equipment can detect differences as small as a millionth of a volt.
Your Nervous System Scan
After gowning, for the test we値l have you stand relatively still for a moment or two. Then, starting at the base of your skull, we値l run two probes down your back. Think of these as radio antennas listening for a distant station. That痴 it. The computer does the rest! The tests are comfortable and only a pleasant light pressure is experienced.
You値l see the computerized printout on your second visit and learn what it means. Because your care is based on the health of your nervous system, not simply on how you feel, this technology is one of the focal points of our practice.
Preparing for your first appointment
We recommend you wear comfortable, loose fitting clothing, if possible and bring any imaging (X-ray, CAT or MRI CD) that you would like to discuss with Dr. Kricken. We also encourage you to bring any other family members that want to be checked by the chiropractor. Please give yourself up to 75 minutes for your first visit.
