Calgary Chiropractor Dr. Michael Kricken
"I suffered for years with headaches and was often sick with colds and the flu." remembers Dr. Michael Kricken ("Dr. Mike" as he likes his patients to call him). "When I was a university student, my mom was seeing a chiropractor - something no one in our family had done before."
"The legendary Dr. Jack Cameron not only did for my mother what no other doctor or therapist could, but he also passionately shared with me the wonders of chiropractic and his commitment to help as many people as he could. Within six months I was attending chiropractic school and receiving care myself that had begun to transform my own health."
Dr. Mike began his Pre-Chiropractic studies at the University of Calgary where he studied such basic sciences as: Organic and Inorganic Chemistry, Physics, Biology and Zoology.
After completing his studies in Calgary he was accepted at Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College (CMCC) in Toronto, Ontario. During his four years at CMCC, courses included Biochemistry, Histology, a major emphasis on Anatomy and Human Physiology, X-ray, Clinical Diagnosis, Chiropractic Bio-Mechanics and Adjusting Techniques, as well as 1000+ hours of patient care in the Bayview Out-Patient Public Clinic. After graduating in 1990, with Clinical Honours, Dr. Mike and his wife Lynn returned to the Calgary area where he established his private practice.
Dr. Mike and Lynn have been blessed with four remarkable children, Alyssa, James, Talia and Zachary. Dr. Mike thoroughly enjoys being a dad and can be found attending their hockey, soccer, baseball, basketball, and volleyball games and practices, as well as the occasional track meet, in addition to piano and dance recitals, drama performances and musicals.
Dr. Mike regularly lifts weights and runs. While he once ran a 3:08 Marathon (42.2km), he currently prefers much shorter and more relaxed runs, even with his dog Beemer. Dr. Mike explains that he sees his chiropractor every week, "I have found over the years that being checked and adjusted regularly makes a big difference in terms of significantly less illness, fewer headaches, more energy and an overall sense of well-being." He gives a lot of credit to Dr. Ryan Lees from Airdrie, "I would not be able to do all that I do without his help, he's a remarkable man."
"We love skeptics," smiles Dr. Mike. "I still recall the concerns and apprehension I had when I initially started seeing the chiropractor. So we make a real effort to explain things in advance and answer every question. People appreciate that."
