Drs. Jennifer and Jessica Macklin, PharmD

Drs. Jennifer Macklin B.S., Pharm.D and Jessica Macklin B.S., Pharm.D (aka Drs. Tymes 2) are twin sisters born in Cleveland, OH and are first generation college graduates. The name 'Tymes 2' was lovingly given by their dad because everything he does or buys for them is Tymes 2! The twins have a very close relationship and are extremely blessed to share their professional journeys together. Their identical biography often gives them a laugh but they would not prefer to have it any other way. Their nickname isn't `` Tymes 2`` for nothing!

Together, the sisters graduated from Cleveland Heights High school, earned their BS degrees in Molecular & Cellular Biology from Kent State University and Doctorate of Pharmacy Degrees from Chicago State University College Of Pharmacy. Both board certified to practice pharmacy in states of New York, Ohio and Wisconsin.

The duo brings over 15 years of pharmacy experience and entrepreneurship to the organization. They each have their individual strengths and enjoy bringing their talents together to work as a team. Their strong leadership and entrepreneurial skills are evident over the years as they managed the event design division at their family’s entertainment business, their continuous roles as Cardinal Health Women in Pharmacy Ambassadors as well as serving as President (Jennifer) and Vice President (Jessica) of their pharmacy class. The duo’s experience in entrepreneurship and passion to improve the quality in patient’s pharmacy experience lead them down a path to have a high interest in the independent pharmacy setting due to the opportunities to practice pharmacy in a more personalized manner.

The sister’s tenacity and dedication to their passion of providing health education at a convenience has awarded them both the competitive Cardinal Health Scholarship for their business plan of creating a business plan that best fits the needs of a targeted population. Implementing Collaborative Agreements Between Pharmacies and Physicians Around the Country. The collaborative agreements gives pharmacists the opportunity to perform strep throat and influenza point of care testing at the pharmacy counter. During their fourth year of pharmacy curricculum, The twins were also awarded Best Capstone Research in the public health category for Implementing a Pharmacy Service in the Community. The premise of their project was to provide convenient care at the pharmacy to patients that had various barriers to showing up at a physician's office. They achieved this by designing a collaborative agreement between pharmacies and physicians which would give pharmacists the opportunity to perform strep throat and influenza point of care testing at the pharmacy counter.

Upon graduation, the duo worked together at an independent pharmacy chain in inner city Milwaukee, Wisconsin where they specialized as Medication Therapy Management Pharmacists. In this role, Drs. Jenn and Jess have completed over 800 comprehensive medication reviews and dozens of lifestyle educations at community centers, via phone, at patients homes and at special events. This role was very integral in showing the sisters the vital impact that they have dedicated their professional years to teaching their patients on a more engaging level and by meeting patients ``where they are``. Their diligence and contributions helped reach the Medicaid goal of educating and tracking patients in 2016 and 2017.

The duo are so very fortunate for the funding of the MTM program provided in WI for those most challenging communities that need the help the most. Funding for this service is a limiting factor in many states but they believe that the underserved communities are paying the price with their health. Awareness is key.

The twins describe their face to face meetings educating the community as well as spending time and mentoring the youth as one of their most rewarding feelings in their careers so far. The impact of the knowledge that they share with others on the outside of the pharmacy counter and the feedback from their audience has personally proven more rewarding and immeasurable than on the dispensing side of the counter. It’s a win/win for everyone involved. They both truly love interacting with patients and educating underserved students and communities about healthier living alternatives both mentally and physically. Their involvement in mentorship and numerous volunteering in underserved communities have been a highlight in their personal and professional endeavors and which pushed them to design motivating programs.

Drs. Tymes 2 values giving back to others as a foundation in their purpose in life and are so grateful to all of the people that have helped them to be where they are today and look forward to all of those that will help them move their mission forward in the future.

Upon graduation from pharmacy school, they set higher goals to give back more. The sisters are the first alumni of Chicago State University College of Pharmacy to dedicate an annual scholarship to two fourth year pharmacy students - The Macklin Award of Excellence in Pharmaceutical Science for students who plan to practice pharmacy by thinking outside of the box. The duo has also went all in and created their dream organization, Drs. Tymes 2 Teaches You! This organization is dear to their hearts and they wake up every day excited about it.

The sisters are proud to start their organization in their hometown of Cleveland, Oh and look forward to expanding their services to New York City where they also practice pharmacy.
